Moonwalk's success story began when Wim jr. and his brother Frank Ammerlaan started the nursery AQ Roses in Ziway, Ethiopia. During a trip to Kenya, they went in search of the finest rose varieties for their new nursery. There, they came across Moonwalk at rose breeder Interplant Roses. Full of enthusiasm, they decided to be the first nursery to grow this bright yellow rose commercially. Hoping for success, they started with the variety, not knowing that it would later become one of the best yellow roses in Africa.
What started with a small crop on just one hectare soon grew into a success story. Together with cultivation manager Ron van der Hoorn and their team, Wim jr. and Frank set out to find the ideal cultivation method for this special rose.
Through many tests and optimisations, they managed to perfect the variety. Their efforts soon paid off: not much later, other growers followed suit, recognising the potential of this rose and also started growing Moonwalk.
But what makes Moonwalk so special? Besides its striking colour and cheerful appearance, it has even more qualities. This rose has a soft, subtle fragrance and a beautiful bloom. In the vase, it effortlessly stays beautiful for 10 to 12 days.
In recent years, the Moonwalk has firmly established its place within Rosa Plaza's range of roses. It is appreciated by wholesalers, florists and consumers worldwide. Its warm appearance makes it suitable for countless occasions, from birthdays and festive events to a cheerful bouquet for the home.
